Presenting the Global Goals Yearbook 2018, with a Focus on Partnerships for the Goals

The future of the United Nations is more uncertain now than at any time before. Like his predecessors, UN Secretary-General António Guterres has promised to reform the United Nations. The drivers are two major agreements: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Climate Accord. Both stand for a move away from statal, top-down multilateralism and toward a new form of partnership between the public and private sectors as well as civil society. But how can these new partnerships for the Global Goals look like? This is the main topic of the Global Goals Yearbook 2018, published under the auspices of the macondo foundation.

2017 Yearbook Edition “Sustainability in Troubled Times” Recognized As UN Flagship Publication

The 2017 edition of the Global Compact International Yearbook, titled “Sustainability in Troubled Times,” was officially recognized as a UN flagship publication at the conference on “Public–Private Partnerships for the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” (Geneva, April 10 – 13, 2018). Dr. Elmer Lenzen, Chair of the macondo foundation, which is the patron of the Global Goals Yearbook, emphasized in his acceptance speech the significant role that the partnerships between the United Nations and the private sector must play to achieve the goals of the 2030 Agenda.

The Global Compact International Yearbook released the new 2017 edition providing guidance on the development of globalization as well as climate policy. And it includes an enormous number of best practices for the implementation of SDG-sensitive corporate management.

Global Compact International Yearbook Is Once Again a Medal Winner of US Book Award The Global Compact

International Yearbook 2016 has won a silver medal at the prestigious 10th Axiom Business Book Awards. The joint publication of macondo publishing and United Nations Publications finished second in the category “Philantrophy/Nonprofit/Sustainability” behind Greenleaf Publishing.

The global launch of the Global Compact International Yearbook 2016 is underway and will be presented soon at notable conferences around the world. With sustainable innovation as the top issue and interviews featuring prominent guests such as Angelina Jolie and Robert Redford, this new edition is highly anticipated. The yearbook will be presented at the International Summit of Cooperatives (Québec, October 11–13, 2016), the 7th International Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility (Berlin, September 14–16, 2016), and the TBLI Conference Nordic (Stockholm, September 20–21, 2016) hosted by Nasdaq and the 3rd International Conference on CSR, Sustainability, Ethics & Governance (Cologne, August 1-3, 2016).

Sustainable innovation key topic of the Global Compact  International Yearbook 2016

 The Sustainable Development Goals are an ambitious agenda with 17 topics addressing the global challenges of our time. A key topic is innovation: Business must fit into planetary boundaries. This probably will not work with traditional business models. That is why we need new, fresh ideas. We need change, even when it happens in a rough, disruptive way. And the earlier the better. This is why the upcoming edition of the Global Compact International Yearbook, published in September 2016, has chosen sustainable innovation as the key topic.

In the upcoming 2016 edition of the Global Compact International Yearbook, Jolie and Redford give extensive interviews to discuss their offscreen engagement. Redford offers personal insights about climate change and his ecological work, whereas Jolie talks about her work with refugees and the United Nations. Both interviews will be published in September 2016 in the upcoming edition of the Global Compact International Yearbook.

Global Compact International Yearbook Becomes a Medalist for US Book Award

The publishers macondo publishing and United Nations Publications finished third in the category “Finance/Investment/Economics” behind Stanford University Press.
